Why Trim & Molding Matters

A floor can be sanded and finished to perfection — but if the trim is gapped, the baseboard pulls away from the wall, or the transition strip rocks underfoot, that's what homeowners notice. Trim is the last impression a floor makes.

At 3 Floor Guys, trim and molding installation is handled by Ruben, whose specialty is custom woodwork: precision fitting, clean mitered corners, and custom-built transitions when standard pieces won't do. Flooring is craftsmanship from subfloor to baseboard — we don't hand that last step off.

Trim & Molding — Common Questions

Do you install trim and molding with flooring projects?

Yes — we install all trim and molding as part of complete flooring projects, including baseboards, shoe molding, quarter round, T-molding, reducer strips, and custom hardwood transitions. Ruben specializes in custom woodwork and precision trim fitting.

What is the difference between shoe molding and quarter round?

Shoe molding is flat on one side and rounded on the other, sitting flush against a flat baseboard. Quarter round is a 90-degree curved piece. Both cover the expansion gap — but shoe molding gives a cleaner, more modern look against flat baseboards.

Do I need transition strips between rooms?

Yes, in most cases. Transition strips cover the expansion gap between flooring types or rooms and protect the floor edge. They're especially important when transitioning from hardwood to tile, carpet, or vinyl.

Can you match existing trim and baseboards?

We work to match existing profiles as closely as possible. Ruben's custom woodwork expertise means we can often replicate historic or non-standard trim profiles. Bring a sample or photo to your free estimate.

Is trim installation included in flooring quotes?

Trim and molding is quoted separately since the scope varies by project. We provide detailed line-item estimates so you know exactly what's included. Free in-home estimates — call (321) 203-9644.
